"Alexandra! Come back here now!" An unknown female voice ordered.
"Mom, shut up. I'm leaving and never returning to this piece of crap you call home." I muttered as I flew down the uneven stairs.
I felt a tug on the back of my backpack strap. "Don't you dare leave." My mom said.
"What are you going to do about it? Stop me? Pfft." I replied. There was silence for a few seconds. "Exactly, touch me again and I'll hurt you." I pulled away from my mom's grasp and continued walking down the stairs.
"I'm calling the police."
"I'm so scared now, huh? That won't bring me home, just makes me want to escape from hell even more."
"Hell? Your father and I gave you everything you wanted."
"Well, that's not enough for me. That's not love, just items. You can't buy love." I explained before turning the cold doorknob. "Don't ever call me. And oh yeah, I took a few hundred dollars." I smirked as I slammed the door close. I started to sprint towards nowhere until a police officer stopped me.
"Excuse me, but may I ask you where are you going?" The police officer asked, looking down at me.
"Uh, I'm going to my friend's house, a sleepover, and um, that's why I brought my bag." I lied.
"What's your name?"
"My name is, um, Megan..."
"Megan, what's your last name?"
"Uh, Roberts."
"Megan Roberts?"
"Yeah, that's my name."
"Oh okay."
"I kind of, uh, need to go."
"Right, right. Almost forgot. Sorry."
"Bye, sir."
"Bye."
I sprinted down the streets. He must have stopped because he saw my tattoos. I stared at my arm, where the silver half of a heart laid. I pulled up the bottom of my jeans up to my knee. I studied my tattoo there, Rebellious was written sideways on the side of my left leg. I slowly let the bottom of my jeans to fall back down to where it belongs.
I sat on the nearest sidewalk and dropped my bag next to me. I let out a deep breath as I reached for my phone in my right pocket. I quickly dialed a number and waited for my best friend, Megan Doven, to pick up.
"Yellow?" Megan said immediately after the fourth ring.
"Meg?"
"Hey, Lexi, what's up?"
"I just ran away from home."
"Ohmigod, really?"
"Yeah."
"Finally!"
"I know right. Where are you?"
"At the movies with Amber and Adri. We're up to the good part. Megan Fox is killing this hot dude and---"
"What movie?"
"Jennifer's Body, like duh."
"Oh, is the movie almost done?"
"Not sure, but go to my house, my mom is home. I'll meet you there later, Amber and Adri are coming too."
"Oh okay, see you later, Meg."
"Bye, Lexi."
There was a click and the other line was dead. I sighed again as I flung my backpack over my right shoulder, dangling the other unoccupied side of my backpack. I stood up, clutching my phone with my free hand.
I walked to Megan's house, I was halfway there when my phone vibrated. I loosen my grip and looked at it. It was dad. I sighed as I threw phone in my half open backpack. I cursed under my breath, the whole way to Megan's house.
Once I had arrived my destination, I quickly knocked on the wooden door. No sound. Complete silence. I knocked again. Again, no sound. I threw my bag across the grass in frustration. I occupied the seat next to my bag a few minutes later. I took out my phone. Twenty - four missed calls. I clicked a button. Mostly from dad, almost four from mom. I called Megan. No answer. I let out a frustrated sigh as I waited outside the house for Megan.

An hour later, Megan arrived with Amber and Adrianna by her sides. They sprinted towards me once they saw me.
"Lexi, what are you doing outside?" Megan asked, bending down.
"No one's home." I simply stated.
"I thought Mom was home." Megan muttered as she changed her position by standing up, she searched for her keys in her pocket and finally got a hold on it. She pulled the silver key and inserted into the matching doorknob. I slipped my right arm into ny right backpack strap as she stood up.
Megan opened the door and the rest of us invaded the large house.
Amber broke the silence, "I guess no one was home."
There was a short note taped on the stand nearby. Megan grabbed it and read it slowly.

Dear Megan,
Your father and I had to leave for a few days due to an emergency. You can invite a few friends over, max is five. You can have a small party with that amount of friends and a sleepover, but please clean up. No boys, at all! You are sixteen, Megan. I am trusting you. We will be back as soon as possible so clean up quick.

Love,
Your Mother.

A small grin appeared on Megan's face, "Anyone want to sleepover?"
Amber and Adrianna looked each other and faced Megan, nodding.
I sighed, "Sure, I have no place to stay."
"Oh, um, Amber and Adri, go home and grab the stuff you need. Come back at eight or something, which is in an hour." Megan demanded.
Amber and Adrianna quickly nodded and left quicker than they had entered.
"What about me?" I asked.
"You could unpack in the guest room, you know where it is right?"
I nodded, "Right next to your room?"
"Yep, come down when you're done."
"Alright." I ran up the evenly spaced stairs and reached my destination. I studied the extremely large room. I walked closer to the magnificent paintings, an inch away from my face. I traced the symbols with my finger slowly. After a few minutes, Megan's voice interrupted my thoughts as it echoed throughout the house.
"Lexi, you done yet?"
My eyes looked away from the paintings and replied, "Almost." I dropped the contents from my bag on the bed. I separated the clothes from my other items. I shoved my clothes in the nearest drawer near the bed, throwing my jacket on the chair. I set my cellphone, iPod, and wallet on the nearby table with the computer. I plugged in my laptop and closed the top, setting my earphones next to it. I grabbed my iPod, cellphone and wallet and shoved them in separate pockets. I trudged downstairs and Megan was nowhere to be found.
"Meg?"
"In the living room," She responded.
I followed her voice. "There you are," I smiled as I found her, sitting on the black couch watching Skins. The remote was in her right hand, a can of Pepsi in the other. Her legs was on the table in front of her. She was slouching.
Megan took a sip from the Pepsi. "Yeah, here I am. Thirsty?"
I shook my head, "Nah."
"Come sit next to me," She said, patting the free seat next to her. I sat down. "You know, Effy is really mysterious."
I stared at the TV. Effy Stonem was talking to Freddie McLair. "I guess so."
"It's so obvious that she likes her, yet she tries to hide it."
I nodded, "What time is it?"
Megan looked away from the TV for a second to check her watch, "Almost seven - forty."
"Oh. They're going to be here soon."
"Yeah, do you like Emily Fitch?"
"She's my favorite character."
"How about Naomi?"
"She's cool."
"How about them together?"
"They're together?"
"Not yet, but they will be, I heard."
"Oh."
"Yeah, well, I don't like them together. I like both characters but they don't fit."
I shrugged, "I don't mind who's together."
I felt Megan shift her position and there was silence for around twenty minutes. Then someone knocked on the door continuously. "I'll get it." Megan offered as she stood up, dropping her Pepsi and remote.
