I let the loudest grunt I can make as the alarm clock rung. I threw the covers as far as I can and got out of bed. I nearly slipped as I ran to change. After I changed, I charged to the bathroom. My older brother was there, taking his time.

I knocked on the door twice before I said, "Mitch! Hurry up! Don't make me barge the door down."

"Alright sis, chill. I'll be there in a sec." Mitch lied on the other side of the door.

I let out a loud sigh as I tapped my foot against the wooden floor. "That's already ten seconds."

"Whatever." Mitch muttered as he opened the door. He started to walk as I stuck out my leg. He tripped easily and he fell right beside me. "Ow." He clutched his knee. "What was that for?"

"You took too long." I sneered as I ventured into the bathroom. I closed the door.

"Mom! Alerissa just tripped me!" Mitch yelled through the door.

"No I didn't, how could I trip you? You tried to trip me." I lied, innocently.

"Oh yeah, I just dropped to the floor and said you tripped me." Mitch said.

"That's exactly what you did. Thanks for agreeing." I smirked.

"I hate you." Mitch said, the hate growing in his voice.

"No one hates anyone!" My mom yelled from downstairs.

"Whatever." I heard Mitch got up and walk away, cursing under his breath.

"Bloody hell," I muttered, as my eyes traveled around the bathroom. Water was everywhere. "Mitch! Mom! Why is there water all over the floor!?!"

I heard footsteps making its way up the creepy stairway. "What, hun?"

I threw open the door, trying not to slip on the floor. "Mom, there is water all over the floor!"

My mom looked around, "What the... Mitchell!"

Mitch appeared half a minute later, "Huh, mum?"

"Why is there water all over the floor?" My mom demanded.

"I swear, mum, it was clean the way I left it." Mitch lied.

My mom narrowed her eyes at me, "Alerissa? Explain."

"Right after Mitch pretended he fell, I went in and the floor was all wet." I said, staring at Mitch.

"Alright then, Mitchell, clean this up." My mom said, pointing at the water.

"Wha..?" Mitchell started to say.

"You're the older one," My mom explained.

I smirked, "Can I at least brush my teeth first?"

"Sure of course, Mitchell stay in your room for a few minutes." My mom ordered.

Mitchell nodded. My mom gave me a look as she led him and herself out of the bathroom, shutting the door silently.

I groaned. After I was done, I splashed more water on the floor. I grinned as I opened the door. "Your turn, Mitch."

There was no sound in his room, I shrugged. He would get in trouble later if mom finds out that it still wasn't clean. I went to my room and grabbed my bag. I trudged downstairs quickly, not caring at the sounds the stairs were making. I ran to the door, ready to leave for school.

"Ale, you forgot to eat your breakfast." My mom said, pointing at the plate.

"Mom, you know I don't eat breakfast, so why bother?" I muttered.

My mom looked at my outfit, "Uh, nice outfit for the first day huh?"

I looked down. I was wearing all black and white with tiny specks of yellow. "I know." I could tell she was lying.

"Well, bye then?"

"Mhm, bye." I replied, heading for the doorknob.

My mom waved, "Bye. Is Spencer cleaning?"

"I don't know where he is."

"Oh."

"Yeah, well bye." I ran outside and closed the door before she could say anything.

I stuffed my earphones into my ears with not much force. I started to walk to my bus stop as I flipped through my songs. When I reached to my destination, there was about three guys and two girls. I stood next to the red stop sign as I tapped my foot against the soft wet grass, listening to Long Shot by Kelly Clarkson, ignoring everyone nearby.

A finger poked me softly a few minutes later and I turned around. A girl with long brown hair and shiny, crystal blue eyes was standing right beside me. Her skin was pale and she was a bit taller than me, but not by much. I pulled off my earphones.

"Yeah?"

"You new here?" She asked.

"Mhm." I nodded.

"Cool." She stared at me up and down.

I felt uncomfortable. "Uh, what's your name?" I asked, breaking the short silence.

"Skyla. Skyla Allie Deshelle." She stuck out her hand. I shook it. "Yours?"

"Alerissa Lacey Blair." I replied. Her hand was still in mine, and she didn't look go. She was still staring at me.

"Oh cool." She saw the look on my face and she let go her hand from mine, quickly. "Sorry about that. Didn't notice."

I didn't say anything. I just nodded.

"When did you move here?" She asked.

I thought for a moment. "Oh, um, in July."

"Cool. By the way, nice outfit. And you're really pretty."

I was quiet for awhile. "Uh, thanks?"

"No problem." She looked into the sky. Then she turned back to me and stared at something behind me. "Bus is here."

I turned around. The bus skidded a stop as it nearly passed us. "Cool bus, I guess."

She grabbed my arm and dragged me towards the bus, behind everyone us, "C'mon." A few seconds later we were both on the bus, I took a sit in the fourth row to the right. She sat next to me. "Do you mind if I show you around school today?"

I looked at her. "Uh, sure. I don't mind."

"Good." She smiled at me. I gave her a weak grin back.

A boy, older than us, was sitting next to us, on the other side. He had short brown hair, and dark brown eyes. He started to get closer to us. "Ooh, looks like the lezzie likes the new kid."

Skyla ignored him. I just stared at both of them, back and forth. That explains why she kept staring at me, was she checking me out!?! I looked down at my hands.

The boy laughed, "What you thinking about? Seducing her?"

Skyla turned to him and slapped him. "Shut the **** up, Tom Milzer."

The boy's left hand was on his right cheek. He turned to me. "You shouldn't hang out with lezzies on the first day of school. Especially her. It's bad for your reputation. I'm pretty sure you're not one, you're too hot."

Pink flashed through my cheeks. "Thanks for the compliment and warning, but I think I know who's a good friend and who's not."

The boy snorted. "Whatever."

Skyla turned to me and smiled. "Thanks," she whispered softly, against my ear.

"No problem." I muttered silently.

As soon as we reached school, Skyla darted away, as quickly as possible. I was the last one to get out, right behind Tom. He gave me a wink before he left with his friends. I kept walking, not knowing where to go. I stood by the nearest tree and sat down. There was circles of groups nearby. The small group of hot boys were the closest to me. A tall blond guy from the group started to walk up to me.

"Hey, um, I'm Chase. Chase Rector." He grinned.

I looked up at the handsome face. "Uh, hello, Chase. I'm Alerissa Blair."

"Cool name." He replied.

"Thanks, you, too." I looked at the group again and caught Tom's eye. He grinned as I frowned slightly.

Chase was silent for a moment. "Uh, you new here?"

I nodded.

"Want to uh, meet my friends?" Chase asked.

I looked over at the small group of guys and caught Tom's eye again. "Them?"

Chase looked at the group. "Them? Nah. My other group of better friends."

"They're not your friends?"

"Nah, I had to tell them something. Most of them are nice, besides Tom."

"Tom? He keeps looking at me."

"That's not a good thing." Chase joked. He grabbed my hand. "I'll show you my friends."

"Okay." I agreed.

Chase led me behind the tree and approached a group on the right of the school door. Skyla was there. "Hey guys. This is Alerissa, she's a hot new kid."

The group looked up, everyone said, "Hey." in unison, besides Skyla.

"Hey." I waved as Skyla looked down.

Chase pointed at a male with black hair, snakebites, wearing a black hoody. "That's Alex Sleck, the emo. He doesn't cut himself though. Well he does, but that's rare. He's very emotional, though."

Alex nodded. "Yo."

Chase then looked at Skyla, "This is Skyla Deshelle. She's the lesbo of the group, bi, actually." Skyla was still looking down, pretending to be interested at a small crooked rock, ignoring them. "I think she's in a bad mood, trust me, when she is, she ignores the whole world." I didn't think that was the reason. "Anyways, this is Olivia Carter, the brains of the group."

A short, pretty female with short black hair, waved. "Hey." Then she turned her attention back to her books.

"Olivia, haven't you studied enough?"

"There is never enough studying."

"Whatever you say." Chase nodded towards a male with brown hair. "This is Isaac Jelmen, the joker. Not really, though. He just thinks he's so funny."

"Hey," Isaac greeted, "Wait what?"

"Nevermind, Isaac. And lastly, this is Lex Lyson. She's normal, I guess."

A female with red hair waved. "Hey, and duh, I'm normal."

"Lex, that was a joke." Chase joked.

"Your point?" Lex asked.

"Whoa, that ain't fair. The losers get the new girl. Now they have seven people and we have five. Not fair." A male with brown hair said, approaching us.

Chase turned around, "Sean Kelsen, the loser." Chase introduced.

"If I'm the loser, then what are you?" Sean asked, his smile not fading away.

Chase ignored his question. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh nothing, just that Jenny Laron wanted to see the new kid."

"Who told her?"

"Uh, Tom."

I looked down at my hands. Chase muttered, "I don't think Alerissa wants to be in your group. She's nice, not mean."

"Pfft, so?" Sean snorted. "Wait, who said we were mean?"

"Like, uh, everyone in the school?" Skyla said.

Tom and three other girls were approaching us. "Hey, Sean, is there a problem here?"

Sean looked back at Tom, "Nah. The new chick wants me."

Chase's friends stood up, I looked at Sean in disgust, "What the **** are you talking about?"

"Whoa, watch your language." Sean warned.

"Could you guys, like, leave?" Lex asked.

"Shut up, Lex, ugly redhead." A girl with long brown hair, said.

Lex just smiled. "Cassie Bellnex, none of your insults hurt us anymore. So why bother if it's false?"

Cassie didn't say anything. A girl next to her, with long black hair, was looking down at the grass. "We never said it was false." She said, looking up.

"Gee, Angel Bandis, everything that comes out of your mouth is false." Skyla muttered.

No one said anything for awhile. We just stared at each other. Tom was still looking at me. Then the bell rung. Everyone scattered as I looked at my schedule. First period, English. Chase was following me.

"Hey, Chase, uh, do you know anyone that has English first?"

Chase thought for a moment. "I think Lex does. LEX!"

Lex came scurrying towards us. "Huh? What?"

"Can you bring Alerissa to English?"

Lex nodded as she linked her arm with mine, "Sure."

"Alright, see you." Chase said, as he sprinted away.

"Bye." We replied in unison.

"Alrighty, Ale, let's go." Lex said, as she led me towards the school building.

When we reached out destination, on the other side of the building, we were late.

"You two are late." A short, plump, lady said.

Lex and I nodded as we took a seat in the two empty, far, left corner. I looked down at my schedule. Mrs. Grinoll...

"Alerissa Blair," I threw up my hand. There was a knock on the door, and Tom walked in, his smug face staring at me as he sat in front of me. "Sir, you are late."

Tom rolled his eyes, "Whatever."

Mrs. Grinoll ignored him. She continued the attendance. "Lex Lyson." Lex's shot up. After a few more people, "Tom Milzer." Silence. "Tom Milzer?"

Tom made a sigh as his hand rose up. "Here, jeez."

Mrs. Grinoll ignored him as she finished the attendance. Then Mrs. Grinoll lectured us about the boring rules. Halfway through the class, Lex poked me. I turned towards her.

"Chase is having a party today." She whispered. "Just the seven of us. Me, you, Chase, Alex, Olivia, Skyla, Isaac."

"Cool." I replied.

"You coming?"

"Sure."

"Okay." Lex's head rested on her textbook in front of her again, trying not to fall asleep.

Tom was sleeping in front of me, snoring quietly.

The bell rung minutes later. I jumped with Lex and left as Tom continued to snore.

"So, what do you have next?"

I took out my schedule. "Erhm, health."

"Damn, I have science. Oh look, here's Skyla. SKYLA!"

Skyla turned around and caught my eye, she looked away, and walked towards Lex. "What do you want?"

"You have health, right?"

"Yeah, and you have science... wait, don't tell me."

"Can you escort Alerissa."

Skyla let out a sigh, "Fine."

"Thanks, Sky."

"Whatever."

"Alright bye." Lex said as she walked the opposite direction.

"Bye," I said as Skyla just walked away, waiting for me to follow. As soon as we got there, I took a seat next to Skyla as she rolled her eyes. She was quiet the whole class, and Sean was sitting in the front, right corner, watching me every few minutes.

After three periods, it was lunch. Alex, Chase, & Skyla were in my lunch period. The rest of the classes before lunch zoomed by, at least one of Chase's friends were in my classes besides Social Studies.

I walked towards Chase's table as he put down his hand that was just waving moments before. As I approached the table, Chase scooted over and Skyla looked down at her hands. Alex, who sitting next to Skyla, across from Chase, was busy doodling on a thin piece of white paper.

"Hey, Alerissa." Chase patted the seat next to him, "Sit here." I sat down next to him, across from Skyla. I ignored her silence.

"Hey Skyla." I greeted. She didn't say anything.

"I don't know what's up with Sky today."

Alex looked up from his drawing. "Yo, Ale."

"Hey Alex. Uh, what are you drawing?"

Alex nudged the paper towards me. It was a picture of a skull with beautiful roses around it. "Do you like it?"

"Wow, you're an awesome artist." I gave him the picture back.

"Lies." Alex smiled.

"I'm serious." I said.

Chase just grinned, "He's being modest."

Alex didn't say anything as he continued drawing. "Oh."

"So you coming to the party right?"

"Oh yeah, that, Lex told me. And sure, I'll come."

Chase grinned. "Alright. Thanks."

"No problem."

"Here's my number," He wrote on a piece of paper in his binder and ripped it out. "Call me and I'll get you or I can give you directions."

"Okay."

After that, our table was called, and we got lunch. I got a pizza and lunch zoomed by. Nothing happened much afterwards, classes were all boring. All of Chase's friends were in my classes. Skyla was my science partner, due to our last names. After school, I got on the bus and sat on the same seat.

As I was walking home from my bus stop, I took out my cellphone and the sheet of paper with Chase's number.

After four rings, Chase answered. "Uh, hello? Who is this?"

"Hey, Chase. It's me, Alerissa."

"Oh hey, Ale!" I noticed the sudden change of excitement in his voice. "What's up?"

"Nothing much, just wondering what time's the party."

"Oh, that. It's at 5. Good thing it's a friday, and that my parents left town for a lame research of an animal."

I was wondering why school starts at friday, why not monday? "Oh, well are you busy?"

"Nope."

"Can you pick me up?"

"Sure, where you at?"

"Home, at 67 Stone Street."

"Be right there."

"Chase?"

"Yeah?"

"Thanks."

"No problem."

"See you."

"Bye." And he hung up.

I hid my phone in my pocket as I continued watching home. A few minutes later, I finally reached home. I opened the door after I fished out my key. I walked in and there was no noise, at all. I dropped my bag on the nearby chair and ran upstairs. I checked the bathroom to see if it was clean. It wasn't, like I thought. I let out a sigh as I walked to my room. I closed the door slowly and changed my clothes into something nicer than what I'm wearing now. There was a sudden knock downstairs and I ran down the stairs. I opened the door and there was Chase with a giant grin plastered across his face.

"Hey, Ale. You ready?"

"Yeah. Wait, I have to get something."

"Okay."

I quickly grabbed the key nearby and stuffed it in my pocket, I ran back to Chase. He backed away a bit as I closed the door and locked it. "Now I'm ready."

"Good. Uh, do you have a bike? Cause the only other way to get to my house is by walking."

"Yeah, I do. Hold on." I ran to my backyard on the side gate of my house. Chase followed.

"Is that your bike?" He asked, pointing at a black bike with a silver trim.

I nodded, "Yeah."

"Your bike makes mine look like garbage." He laughed.

I grabbed my bike and led it to the front of the house. "No it doesn't."

"Hah, see." Chase walked in front of me, sprinting to a black bike that was sprawling on the grass. It didn't look that bad.

"It looks perfectly fine."
